Valentine's Day...no thanks!

This is my opinion on Valentine's Day. I don't like it. I think it's all commercialism and consumerism. It's sickening. I believe if you love someone, you should show them everyday not just one day a year. Plus, buying something for someone DOES NOT show you care. These days people make all kinds of unnecessary purchases, what is one more to them? I feel sorry for the people in relationships that aren't quite sure where they're at in the relationship, those people are forced to acknowledge Valentine's Day. They may not feel lovey-dovey but feel guilty if they don't celebrate with their significant other. That's what I want...a guilt-ridden gift. Absolutely not!  For married couples, I just see it as a waste of money and false sincerity. If you want to show me you love me, consistently do little things for me. Those are the things that matter most to me. I don't want flowers, candy, jewelry or anything else that is typically Valentine's Day. I want your time and effort to show me you love me. So as you can see, my opinion on Valentine's Day is...no thanks, I'll pass.

  1. I do like to "take advantage" of Valentine's Day as hubby will take me to my favorite restaurant---and it's generally only the one time a year I get to go there!
Doesn't look like we will be able to afford it this year but I'm fine with that. We bought a house so we struggle taking on the mortgage payments and things.
Instead we are going to my daughter's boyfriends orchestra concert as a family :)
